Music Ministry
The Music Ministry at First Baptist is an opportunity for fellowship and worship for people in our church and community. The Music Ministry presents two Cantatas per year, at Easter and Christmas, as well as a summer choir for members of the South Boston Community. At First Baptist, there is a choir for all ages to participate in.
Chancel Choir
The Chancel choir meets at 7:00 on Wednesday evenings and is an intregral part of Sunday morning worship.
Children's Choir
The Children's Choir is for Grades K - 5 and meets on Mondays at 4:00 pm.
Handbell Choir
The handbell choir is composed of youth and adult ringers. They practice on Wednesday at 6:15 pm.
FBC Christmas Cantata 12/08/2019: “Christmas Presence”; A musical time of worship featuring our Chancel Choir, with piano, organ, violins, viola, cello, flute, percussion, & narrators; From the pen of Pepper Choplin comes Christmas Presence, a musical telling of the Christmas story and its impact on our lives and the lives of those around us.
Community Choir Concert 08/11/2019: “Come Before Him with Singing”; A Musical time of worship with choir members and musicians from local baptist, Methodist, and Presbyterian churches
FBC Easter Cantata 04/14/2019 A musical time of worship featuring our Chancel Choir, with piano, organ, violins, viola, cello, & narrator; The Body of Christ: Pepper Choplin beautifully and creatively crafted this retelling of the final days of Jesus' life, focusing on the meaning of His words and actions leading to the cross.
